At Glenlyn Aged Care Facility we realize that this is a difficult and anxious time for you and we hope that the following information will help reduce some of your concerns.

We are a private, family run, 76 bed high care facility catering for both permanent and respite residents. We have 24 hour qualified staff on duty to provide quality care for our residents. Glenlyn provides an extensive activities program as well as all allied health services.

We are a flexible facility, respecting individual's needs and requirements.

We wish all those living here to feel comfortable and be themselves in their new home.

ACTIVITIES AND OUTINGS

Activities are regularly organized by our three activities staff as determined by the resident's abilities and care plans.

We have a variety of external activities, such as visiting RSL, special luncheons, parks and in-house activities including movies in our surround sound theatre common room.

An organized program of crafts, music, games, discussion groups, special occasions etc is maintained by our activities staff.

Individual activities programs are developed from information gathered at admission of new residents.

PHILOSOPHY

An aged care facility is not a hospital. We endeavour to ensure a homelike, personalized environment is provided for all. We encourage all resident to retain their identity, values and individuality. We believe it is important for people to maintain their personal and intimate friendships and be facilitated to create new ones within the facility. Hence visitors are welcomed at any time and a supportive social environment is promoted.

We believe everyone has the absolute right to be treated with respect and dignity and experience pleasure and satisfaction.

Staff ensure resident's are encouraged to maintain their independence and personal freedom as much as possible.

Residents have the right to come and go as they wish, be facilitated to practice religious or cultural customs. Manager their affairs and exercise choices about their care and all aspects of their life.
